There’s a timeless saying that goes; “when it rains, it pours“, and while this is only a moderate shower, it’s one that is building necessary hype for some upcoming live-action feature film adaptations of Japanese pop culture properties. Only a few days ago the very first full trailer was released for the Ghost In The Shell Hollywood adaptation which was exciting in and of itself, but following it’s release the world has been gifted a quick look at another anticipated live-action adaptation; the Fullmetal Alchemist film.
The movie’s official website has been updated today to feature a thirty-second preview video of the upcoming film that shows lead actor Ryosuke Yamada as Edward Elric alongside his full-CGI brother Alphonse, as well as some familiar locations, and a canine-like beast that many are assuming is the adaptations take on a chimera. While there’s not much more to be said about this brief look at the film, my personal opinion is that it actually looks great! My hope is that, unlike many other movies of it’s kind, it does not disappoint once it gets a proper release, but we wont know until that time comes so until then we only have the preview for which to base our opinions.
The live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film opens up in theatres across Japan in the Winter of 2017.
