While many of your out there are waiting on bated breath for the eventual re-make of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII, there are those of us out there who are looking for something to do with the legendary game that makes us feel as though we’re financially fulfilled. While simply purchasing a standard edition of Monopoly seems fitting enough, it is a board game that, in comparison to the newly announced, simply seems like child’s play. Why would I want to build a hotel on Mayfair when I could construct a Mako Reactor; a monolithic structure that literally syphons Earth’s hidden power and converts it into sustainable energy for the world’s populous to take advantage of? The answer is simply; I wouldn’t. I want total dominion over what this planet has to offer, and it starts with the taking over of Midgar.
Merchoid, an online distributor for all things Geek-related, has updated their website to now feature a page wherein which you can pre-order your very own copy of the recently-announced board game variant; Final Fantasy VII Monopoly. Pokemon Monopoly, The Legend Of Zelda Monopoly, and now Final Fantasy VII Monopoly. Square Enix know what it is that their audiences crave; and it’s this! Instead of fighting off the Shinra forces with your Buster Sword in hand using turn-based mechanics and a tactical outlook, you will do, well…much the same, whilst in the grips of Final Fantasy VII Monopoly.
Set for a release on the 14th of April next year, Final Fantasy VII Monopoly will play in almost the exact same way every other iteration of Monopoly, albeit with a different aesthetic that includes a Final Fantasy VII-themed game board and several Final Fantasy VII-themed game pieces. Merchoid describes the game as:
Delve into the evolving city of Midgar in search of the latest business opportunities. Perhaps you’ll buy up a string of plots for housing development for the people, or go industrial and build a Mako reactor plant.
Trade with fellow players to secure key location and facilities and watch as savvy buyers secure a big pay day. A roll of a dice and a shrewd business mind will pave your way to success…Just watch out in case Shin-ra bring your empire crashing down!
Sure, you’ve already pre-ordered the Final Fantasy VII remake in full, I understand, but now is the time to head into your local video game retailer, demand your money back, declare to the world that you’re no longer interested in boring video game remakes, and instead head to Merchoid wherein which you can purchase the true Final Fantasy VII evolution; a Monopoly variant.
