With fighting game continuations such as Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, fans of the long-running series always worry about the updated roster. Often, a developer will keep all the characters that the fans have come to know and love while throwing in others for the sake of variance. Occasionally, a developer will forget about fan favorite characters for reasons unbeknownst to us, but in the case of Tekken 7: Fated Retribution it seems as though Bandai Namco Entertainment truly know what it is that it’s audience wants the most.
Announced a while back, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution is, incase you can’t already tell, the next addition to the long line of Tekken video games to hit both arcades and home consoles. Like every other new iteration of the game; Tekken 7 boasts well-tuned gameplay mechanics, incredibly high-calibre visuals, and the return of many series staple characters…like Nina Williams who has today been revealed as a returning fighter to the King Of Iron Fist Tournament that stands, somewhat, as the core of the Tekken series of fighting games.
Accompanied by an introduction video, this announcement doesn’t just reveal that Nina Williams will be returning for the new game, it also reveals her new outfit which…is quite a departure from her usual look. Wrapped in what looks to be a heavily disheveled wedding gown, not much is known about the Nina Williams that will be appearing in the latest game. Perhaps, in much the same style as Kill Bill, her wedding was interrupted by the events of this game’s story which just so happens to feature Street Fighter’s Akuma as one of it’s key players. Perhaps she made herself a runaway bride after discovering that her would-be husband isn’t quite the man she thought he was. Perhaps this is just a simple alternate costume that I’m reading too much into. Regardless, Nina is back, and that’s pretty damn exciting!
Also revealed alongside Nina’s return is that Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be one of the featured fighting games at this year’s Evolution Of Championship Tournament (EVO). As you know, the Evolution Of Championship Tournament as a competition that brings together the world’s most skilled fighting game players to partake in several different titles that range from Street Fighter to Tekken, and now even to Pokken Tournament. Considering Tekken is a huge player in the fighting game genre, it makes a great deal of sense for it to be, once again, featured at this year’s tournament. This year’s tournament will take place July 15th through the 17th in Las Vegas, NV.
Need more than just written word regarding Nina’s announcement? That’s fine! Bandai Namco Entertainment have provided for us an introduction video that shows Nina off in all her kick-arse glory. The video of which can be found just below, so enjoy!
