Yes, back when the Digimon line of virtual pets were first released they were marketed towards young boys, but it’s now 2015 and a lot has changed between then and now. Not too long ago, Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed their next Digimon video game title, Digimon World -Next 0rder-, for the PlayStation Vita and since it’s reveal we really havn’t gotten much in terms of extensive information. Yeah, Bandai Namco Entertainment released a teaser trailer and some fairly uninteresting screenshots, but that’s about it…until now.
The latest issue of Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine features a nice spread revolving around the new game that has introduced audiences to it’s Female protagonist; a young girl named Shiki. Like a lot contemporary additions to game series’ of this type (Pokemon, Yo-Kai Watch, Etc.), Digimon World -Next 0rder- will too allow you to choose between a Male and Female protagonist, both of which are looking damn funky!
Also revealed in the magazine is another character from the upcoming game who you’re NOT in control of. Kota Hirose is another young man that attends the same school as the main character and also just so happens to have a Digimon of his very own; a Guilmon named Yukimura, obviously named after the devastatingly skillful Samurai of legend. Seeing as Kota is also stuck in the Digital World, the assumption is that you’ll be working with him extensively throughout the story of the game.
Bandai Namco Entertainment have stated in the past that this game is set for a 2016 release on the PlayStation Vita in Japan. If this game was announced a year or so ago, I probably wouldn’t expect it to ever reach the West but seeing as Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is on it’s way next year…I have high hopes for a localisation of -Next 0rder-. Just keep praying to Jesmon and hopefully we’ll see this exciting title on local shelves sometime next year.
