Not too long ago, Capcom announced that the classic Street Fighter character Ken Masters is set to return to the battlefield for their upcoming title Street Fighter V. At the very end of his introduction trailer a mysterious figure was shown, one that caught the eye of many fans of the series, and one that could not be properly figured out. Some believed that it was the demon fighter Akuma, while others (most notably Luke) believed that it was some odd version of Blanka seeing as Capcom had hinted at his return for the new game. No matter which of the older characters you thought it would be…you’d be very much wrong because this marked man is someone you’ve never seen before.
Named Necalli, this creature-like fighter brings an air of ferocity to the World Warrior Tournament. Unlike many of the other fighters in the game’s long list, Necalli does not have a style of his own, instead he fights using nothing but his basic animal instincts and a strange yet powerful ability that changes not only the way he looks but his fighting and demeanour style as a whole. If Blanka were to not appear in this new iteration of the fighting game series, Necalli would absolutely be the one to take his animalistic place and do it a great form of justice. Much like the green beast, Necalli is a jungle warrior that knows nothing but blood-curdling violence…just what this tournament needs.
Alongside the reveal of this new character, Capcom also released an introduction trailer of his very own that will absolutely pump up the greater Street Fighter audience much like it did to me. Capcom has labelled Necalli a character who’s simple style makes him easy to use yet strategically versatile which means almost any player can step into his non-shoes and take down an opponent while showcasing something that resembles even the slightest bit of skill. He’s a wonderfully exciting addition to the roster that’s sparked my interest in Street Fighter V and I really think he’ll do the same to many others. Enough talk out of me though, before you watch the trailer here’s an official word from Capcom themselves regarding the new character:
Hailing from a mysterious background, Necalli utilizes a wild, animalistic fighting style to brutalize his opponents. There’s no finesse here as all of his attacks have been forged through the heat of battle to inflict maximum pain upon his opponents. However, beneath the surface of the crazed warrior lies a hidden genius that is unleashed upon V-Trigger activation.
Players who enjoy a straight forward, hard hitting character will feel right at home with Necalli, as he possesses a wide variety of savage, close range attacks, as well as a command grab, all with the goal of demolishing his foes.
