A while back, the pop culture product developer and manufacturer ThinkGeek updated their online store to include a very special Mega Man item that was big enough to be worn and extraordinary enough to be displayed in front of as many people as you could possibly think of. This was the official Mega Man Mega Buster full-sized replica which was released and sold out quicker than you could say “Blue Bomber“. The perfect item for Mega Man fanatics and those wishing to cosplay as the mighty robot alike, this item was released at an affordable price making celebrating the life of the super fighting robot so easy.
San Diego Comic Con is only a day away and that means thousands of people are preparing to battle the crowds as they head into the world famous convention to hit all the celebrity panels, catch all the great news releases, and pick up as much loot as they can possibly hold. Capcom, as a part of the SDCC celebrations, have revealed that they will be showcasing a brand new item at the convention that will not be for sale but it will absolutely blow con-goers away.
Have you ever wanted a full-size, working replica of Mega Man’s helmet? Well, within the next few months or so, that’s exactly what you’ll be able to buy courtesy of Capcom themselves who people thought had thrown everyones favorite robot in the proverbial bin. It turns out there’s still a great deal of love for Mega, and that love has risen up and transformed into what will be one of the hottest pop culture items of the year.
Capcom released this statement alongside the reveal of the upcoming item:
Due to immense popular demand! There have been many attempts at creating a wearable Mega Man helmet over the years, but it’s never been made officially. Made of high quality ABS plastic with a high polish finish, authentic proportions and details, plus working LED lights! A unique clamshell hinge allows the front and back half of the helmet to easily open up to comfortably fit your head inside the soft padded interior for a perfect fit.
This is a high quality replica of the Blue Bomber’s helmet – perfect for display in home or office, but it also doubles as the ultimate role play accessory! Comes shipped in a decorated box suitable for displaying your helmet when not in use. The perfect addition to those that already purchased the full-size working, sold-out Mega Man Buster from Think Geek last year!
Despite not revealing an official release date for the item, my assumption is that we’ll be seeing it before the end of 2015. How did I come to that assumption? Well, I’ll be honest and say that it is more along the lines of wishful thinking than an educated guess. Fact is, I’m saving up some of my sweet cash so that, when the pre-orders open, I won’t have any reason to delay. Speaking of money; Capcom havn’t revealed anything regarding how much this headpiece is going to cost but I wouldn’t count on it being cheap. Maybe don’t buy that coffee or donut you start the morning off with. Instead, chuck it into a big piggy bank. By the time it’s released…you might be on your way to someday being able to afford it. Yeah, I’m guessing it’s going to cost you a pretty penny.
If that’s too expensive for you yet you still want a little bit more Mega Man in your life, might I suggest checking out the mini Mega Man helmet five pack which comes in different colours and will be a heck of a lot cheaper than the fill-sized replica helmet. Much like the replica, this five pack hasn’t been released as of yet and neither has the price but you can be sure to find both items in Capcom’s online store which you can get to by clicking here. Also if you’re heading to SDCC, make sure you keep an eye out for the five pack, chances are Capcom won’t just display them but actually sell them too!
