So I’m sure that everyone who’s reading this has heard of Mega Man. I mean, you’d have to have been living under a rock for quite a few years if you’ve never once seen the blue suited, oft helmeted crusher of evil robots in action. From a humble, if frustrating, start as a 2D side-scroller, Mega Man has just kind of continued to be there…mostly. I’ll admit, recent years haven’t been too great to the guy, owing to a few internal conflicts that saw Keiji Inafune take his talents elsewhere from CAPCOM. Anyway, the future may twinkly a little brighter for this well worn star as 2017 promises the release of a new television interpretation of the Blue Bomber himself.
Now, whilst information is decidedly scarce regarding this new project, it is known that both Dentsu Entertainment USA and Man of Action will be helming it. Now, in case you aren’t familiar with these companies, Dentsu was the force behind the recent Monsuno and LBX franchises. However, my interest lies more in the fact that Man of Action will be the ones creating, writing and executive producing the project, having previously created Ben 10 and Generator Rex (two of my personal favourites). What can I say, I’m an unabashed child at heart.
The tentative 2017 release date, whilst quite far away, does not come as a complete shock as it falls in line with the 30th anniversary of the franchise. Clever scheduling. Regardless, I am definitely going to keep my eyes out for more info on this one…whilst simultaneously hypothesising possible plotlines. I wonder if Rush will be there…
