From Pharaohs, to human/card hybrids, to warriors from beyond the stars, Yu-Gi-Oh! has certainly provided us with quite the colourful cast. So you can only imagine what might happen when such a series decides to completely embrace its flair for the dramatic…and flair.
With the release of Arc-V, the latest instalment in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, comes the concept of Entertainment Duelists. As the title may suggest, these characters combine their passion for Duel Monsters with a desire to excite an audience, a natural economic progression in a world such as this. A new technology known as Solid Vision also allows duelists to give their monsters actual physical form, which has always been a bit of an unclear area in previous series, especially during the creation of the original Duel Disk (still not sure why that was such a dangerous technology to build, what with the monsters being holograms and all).
Of course, as per the norm, our protagonist possesses a mystically powered necklace and is inevitably drawn into a conflict much larger than themselves. But enough about that. The official Yu-Gi-Oh! Youtube channel has recently released both the Japanese and English versions of the Arc-V opening sequence. So listen to some music first, then worry about the inter-dimensional turmoil that will follow after.
