It was revealed a while back that Nintendo and Atlus have been working on a crossover title for the Wii U simply titled “Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem” but soon after it’s announcement it was forced back into the shadows wherein which it has laid in wait…until today. As part of April’s Nintendo Direct Presentation, the video game industry juggernaut debuted the very first trailer for the upcoming game that shows audiences not only the setting of it but the style in which it’ll be developed.
With pop art-style graphics and what looks to be a very “Shin Megami Tensai” set of gameplay mechanics, this trailer shocked many who thought this game would be dark-ish in a similar fashion to the series of games that takes precedence over the new one’s title. It looks to be set in Shibuya, an area of Tokyo, and the protagonists seem to be of a schooling age. Despite what it is that we’ve been shown, this game is still mostly a mystery.
Apparently the characters all lead normal lives but in the darkness can both fight and use demons in all different types of ways. Oh! Also there are plenty of “Fire Emblem” characters in this underside to reality that weren’t shown in the trailer but that we are assured will make an appearance sometime throughout the game.
Chances are, alongside old favorites from the “Fire Emblem” series, you’ll also be seeing a whole bunch of demons made popular by the “Shin Megami Tensei” series. This will hopefully be a game that fans of both franchises will enjoy but we wont know that until we’ve seen more. Stay tuned though, Nintendo stressed that more will be coming very soon.
