It’s no over exaggeration to say that “Naruto” is quite possibly the most popular contemporary Shonen title right now. Thanks to the ending of the series’ Manga, its popularity has skyrocketed far higher than anyone could have anticipated and even though 2015 is meant to mean the end of the series, I think it’s quite the opposite. In fact, I know it’s the opposite.
The movie, “The Last: Naruto The Movie”, was released in theatres throughout Japan a few weeks ago and met one hell of a positive reception. Now that the run is over, our assumption is that work has begun in regards to getting the movie a home video release. Bandai Namco games announced a few weeks ago that they’ve had a new “Naruto” video game in production for quite some time and that they intend to release it worldwide this year.
The new game titled “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4” will feature everything you’ve come to know and love from a “Naruto” game plus a whole bunch of extra stuff including upgraded combat mechanics and new characters to play as. Through the latest issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump the announcement was made that Sasuke, Sakura, Hinata and the already revealed Naruto from the new movie will appear in the game as playable characters.
The two couples will feature as separate characters from their younger counterparts and play host to a whole new set of moves inspired by the movie. it was announced that an older Naruto will be playable in the upcoming game some time ago but only now has it been revealed that the other three will also join him. Whether or not the rest of the cast will make an appearance is beyond us to guess but we sure do hope some of them become playable sooner or later.
I personally am hoping for an older Kiba whereas I’m sure Luke, my fellow writer, wouldn’t say no to a chance to play as a more mature Rock-Lee. The game has already been announced for a Western release and will hit shelves around the world sometime this year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC through Steam.
