There’s this awesome new trend in the video game industry where publishers and developers will offer certain bonuses to people in the world who pre-order one of their titles or who buy it as quickly as they possibly can. We call these “Day One Bonuses”, “Pre-Order Bonuses” and other variations of that because, well…that’s exactly what they are.
Most games will offer quick buyers some sort of reward for doing so like an alternate costume for the main character, some powerful weapons to put you ahead of the game or even some new levels to play through. Either way, it’s all a marketing campaign to get people to buy the game straight away and, as long as they’re giving me free stuff, I couldn’t care less.
Bandai Namco Games Japan (soon to be Bandai Namco Entertainment) announced that their upcoming PlayStation Vita title “Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth” is going to have its very own “Day One Edition” which gifts players two extra Digimon to add to their team at the start of the game: Black Agumon and Black Gabumon.
Both these fan favorite Digital Monsters will be Digivolve-able and will eventually become Black WarGreymon and Black MetalGarurumon. Even more exciting is that, once they reach those stages, they can be fused together to create Omnimon Zwart (Omegamon Zwart) who you’d all know dominated Diaboromon in the original “Digimon” movie.
Though THAT particular incarnation was not Omnimon Zwart but just your standard Omnimon, it still saved the damn world so you can only imagine what a more ravenous version can do! Actually…it’d probably destroy the world…hmm.
Omnimon Zwart is one of the stronger Digimon you can get in the game so to be given the opportunity to get one is HUGE! Also being given to those who buy the game upon release will be given a download code to grab themselves a free “Digimon World: Cyber Sleuth” PlayStation Vita theme which, although Bandai Namco havn’t released any images, I’m going to say will look damn awesome!
The 12th of March is fast approaching which is the release date for “Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth” in Japan. Our hope is that the game eventually comes to the West but, as of right now, there’s no word on that at all. Hopefully Bandai Namco’s Western branches see just how much we want this game and bring it to local shelves for us to finally indulge in. If there’s one wish you want to make over the Holiday Season it’s that we get to see some “Digimon” action in 2015.
