So Japan are getting themselves a new game in the March of next year. Maybe you’ve heard of it; it’s called “Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth” and it features everything a long-time “Digimon” fan like myself could have ever asked for. Not only is it a contemporary “Digimon” video game (which is enough to get anybody excited) but it also plays host to some of the most awesome graphics I’ve ever seen in a franchise title as well as some of my favorite “Digimon” of all time.
It also helps that it is a PlayStation Vita game, of which I happen to be a huge fanboy. Well Bandai Namco Games Japan have today released a new trailer for the upcoming game that goes for a whopping five minutes and basically outlines, in video form, all the information we’ve been delivered over the past few months in written form only.
For those of you who’ve been living under a rock, or something large and solid similar to a rock: “Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth” follows a young hero, male or female, who one day finds themselves in the “Digital World” where they meet their very first “Digimon” but, much like the original series, the happiness of a new monster friend doesn’t last too long because now you’re tasked with figuring out just what the hell is going on in this mysterious land.
People have started getting sick and some have even started going missing! Talking to people “in the know”, you quickly come to realise that this is a result of some virus that originated in the “Digital World”. Taking your “Digi-Partner” and a couple of your new friends, you dive into the world of digital investigation as you try to resolve these issues once and for all while simultaneously trying to keep yourself alive. This could mean the end of the real world…but you’re not going to let that happen!
The game is said to feature over 250 different “Digimon” all of which can be collected and “Digivolved”. “Cyber Sleuth” plays in a similar way to a lot of the older “Digimon” titles but has been upgraded exponentially to fit in with the modern criteria of what we consider a “good game” to be and you can see it just from the trailer alone. With great graphics, a fantastically deep growth and levelling system as well as your favorite “Digimon” all in one place means “Cyber Sleuth” is going to destroy its competition upon release.
Announced through this new trailer is a special piece of download content for those who purchase the game on day one which allows them to get their own Black Agumon and Black Gabumon which can be “Digivolved” and eventually “DNA Digivolved” to creat Black Omnimon (Omegamon). Isn’t that freaking awesome!? Now I just hope we all get to see it on local shelves…that’s MY Christmas wish.
