Alright, reader, it’s time to dust of your PlayStation Vita and settle yourself in for what is going to be one hell of a sword fighting experience, let’s just hope players of this game don’t fall victim to the same fate the players in the Anime series did! Bandai Namco Games has today released their newest Anime title ‘Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment’ in Australia and Across Europe which means the game is now officially available worldwide!
It was released in Japan earlier in the year but in North America just a day ago so it wont take us ‘Euro’ and ‘Aussie’ gamers too long to catch up to our American brothers and sisters. ‘Hollow Fragment’ mostly follows the story of the Anime series ‘Sword Art Online’ but, much like previous video game title in the series’ catalog, tends to stray from the path of ‘canon’ and instead tells different tales which just so happen to feature the same characters we’ve come to know and love.
Bundled with ‘Hollow Fragment’ comes the series’ previous game ‘Infinity Moment’ which was originally released on the PlayStation Portable last year. It has been ported to the PlayStation Vita and slightly upgraded to feature HD quality graphics. The game sports an interesting action/RPG battle system and a high level of character customization to make it as immersive as possible. Despite being in control of series hero ‘Kirito’, you’re given the choice to change the character’s name and appearance to more resemble yourself. Japan audiences have been loving it since the release earlier this year and that gives me hope that Western fans of the series will find the same enjoyment with the game.
Bandai Namco Games have also released another of their highly-anticipated games and the long-awaited sequel; ‘Tales of Xillia 2’, though as of right now it has only been released in North America and Australia. European fans of the series will have to wait one more day until they can get their hands on the new title with it being released on the 22nd of August. Players will join Ludger Kresnik, a seemingly normal teenager who considers himself quite the gourmet, who meets a young girl named Ella Marta and is flung into a life of combat and critical decision-making.
The game has been said to revolve around ‘choices’ which alter the story’s path making an individual’s playthrough very unique. ‘Tales of Xillia 2’ is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and, depending on where you pre-ordered the title, may come with some extra added goodies that are sure to put a smile on your face.
