The future is here, Medababy! Have ever wanted to have your own robot friend that you could care for, customise, polish up and then send into battle against other possibly-deadly robots? I know I have! The next in the series’ line of video games, ‘Medabots 8’ is about to be released in Japan to one heck of an amazing critical reception. Even though the franchise has died off over here in the West, it is still going strong in Japan with a massive fanbase that just keeps demanding more games. Two new gameplay videos were just released and both focus entirely on the battle system of the new pair of games that are quite reminiscent of previous ‘Medabots’ titles but with little tweaks and changes to make the combat mechanics smoother and more enjoyable.
Players will be able to have their robot pals target specific body parts of their opponents. Utilizing this properly will have you take out an enemy’s best weapon or their legs to slow them down or their torso for some huge damage. There’s clearly somewhat of a learning curve with this battle system but learning all the tricks will have you be a master of combat in no time!
‘Medabots 8’ is set for a Japanese release for the Nintendo 3DS on the 28th of August and will be released, much like ‘Pokemon’ titles, as two different versions; one being the ‘Kabuto’ version and the other being the ‘Kuwagata’ version. The first of which will feature Metabee as your robot partner and the other will feature Rokusho as the same. No release date has been announced for the West and, at this point in time, series fans aren’t all that hopeful but who knows, maybe we might find ourselves in the midst of a video game localization miracle.
