RWBYtes rejoice! Your favourite chromatic squad of heroes is leaping, spinning and shooting its way into a new format: a video game. You heard me right, the company that’s all about games is now making their own. How awesome is that? Very…it’s very awesome. The game itself began life as a fan made title, created by 19 year old Jordan Scott. Monty Oum and the rest of the RWBY team were so impressed with Scott’s efforts that they hired him and brought the game in-house. Fans of Rooster Teeth may already recognise the game, previously (or currently still) known as RWBY: Grim Eclipse, as Monty played it during a stream.
Mat Hullum (Rooster Teeth CEO and Co-Founder) said:
“RWBY is a natural choice for us to focus on for our first in-house produced video game. Fans can expect that we will bring the same level of originality in action, comedy and design to the video game that has made the RWBY animated series such a hit. We’re excited about expanding the RWBY universe, and also excited that this is a project that originated as a homegrown community endeavor.”
The RWBY video game will be a multiplayer, team based game that will allow you to utilise the magical skills and form shifting weapons of Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang. So sit back and try to find a way to alleviate the anticipation for Rooster Teeth’s first game. Perhaps RWBY Volume 2 will help? Watch. Enjoy. Learn. For pretty soon, it will be in your hands to save the world of Remnant.
(Note: The trailer below, and image above, showcase the game as it was when released solely by Jordan Scott. So expect the game to be this and a whole lot more once Rooster Teeth gets involved)
